Target and Clay Pigeon Shooting Helpful Hints

Below is a list of helpful hints intended to make your experience with us as enjoyable as possible. Please ensure that all of your group are aware of these hints, as inappropriate clothing can ruin the session.

We recommend you plan to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your booking time. If you arrive late, your session will not be extended to accommodate your lateness.

• If it is a cold day wear lots of warm clothing as there will some standing around and you do not want to get cold.
• On cold days hats and gloves are recommended.
• There will be tea, coffee and squash available free of charge, if you think you will want anything else you will need to bring it with you as there is no food or drink that you can purchase on site.
• There are mosquitoes on site during the summer so insect repellent is advised if you are prone to being bitten.
• For target shooting you must use the weapons provided by Oaker Wood.
• For clay pigeon shooting if you wish to bring your own shotgun it must be accompanied with your shotgun license. It will also need to be assessed for safety by your Oaker Wood marshal on the day.
• If you have any ladies or children within your group we do provide a 20 bore shotgun which is lighter if they would like to use it.
• We provide shoulder pads, ear defenders and sun glasses if it is sunny. We do recommend you bring your own sun glasses if you have some as they will be more comfortable.
• If you wish to purchase more clays on the day you will need to bring cash as we will not always have access to the office/card machine.

What our customers say

My daughter arranged for 7 to do the low rope course , great fun and Ben was sooo patient , thank you

Children's Party - April 18

We visited Oaker Wood to quad bike as part of a stag weekend. The stag is a wheelchair user and from start to finish the guys at oaker Wood were amazing. They helped us organise the event and went to great lengths to make it as accessible as possible. Everyone at the centre was amazing and helped to make it a day to remember and the quad biking was so much fun, learning the ropes on a track and then taking them out in to the beautiful woodlands! Would definitely return any time and would highly recommend it to anyone. Such a great company!

Carl - Stag Group - April 18

We opted for two activities; the adrenalin package and the borne obelisk. Basically these all involved various adventures with ropes and forests. We finished bruised, knackered and having had a great time.

Hen Weekend - April 17

We opted for semi-catered; we were brought bread, spreads, cereal and freshly cooked bacon each morning (more than we could eat - and we tried!) and hot dogs for lunch on the Saturday. We catered our own evening meals using the kitchen in the glamping village and the barbecue hut.

Hen Weekend - April 17

Went to a session run by Harvey and Carrie on the 12th of April. The facilities were excellent, the staff were brilliant and we had a really fun time. would definitely go again.

Verity Best - Paintball - April 18

Our group had a wonderful day quad biking and paintballing. The location is peaceful, the staff were friendly, helpful and knew what they were doing. Felt like we had plenty of time to enjoy each activity and everyone had fun. We will be back! Would thoroughly recommend. 5/5.

Tom Davies - Stag Party - April 18

We visited with our teenage kids who took part in high ropes and quad biking, we only did quad biking. All the activities were well managed and super fun. The team were fantastic, very engaged and really seemed to take an interest.

Brett - Family Adventure - March 18

The Borne Obelisk was really well organised, fun activity for a group of 17 of us, across a range of ages. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and the instructors were really helpful and encouraging. Thank you so much for a great time!

Lucy Furber - Hen Party - March 18

It was awesome having our own camp fire circle for socializing and drinking around in the evening ! I cannot recommend this place enough ! Everyone commented on it being such a good place for a weekend away ! Thankyou Oaker Wood !

Richard Norman - Stag Weekend - March 18

We went to Oakerwood for my friends hen party. It was a small party with only 5 of us and as such we were technically below the minimum number for the activities. Oakerwood were extremely accommodating and helped us book activities we could do. They even helped us arrange the day when we discovered one of our party was pregnant so they could join in too. They couldn’t do more to help and the staff were very friendly and made the day one the hen wouldn’t forget.
