High Ropes & Climbing Helpful Hints

Below is a list of helpful hints intended to make your experience with us as enjoyable as possible. Please ensure that all of your group are aware of these hints, as inappropriate clothing can ruin the session.

We recommend you plan to arrive about 15 minutes prior to your booking time. If you arrive late, your session will not be extended to accommodate your lateness.

• Make sure you wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your movements.

• We do not recommend wearing denim jeans – if they get wet they become heavy and have little to no insulation properties.

• Footwear should be comfortable and supportive. Trainers and walking boots are good,  NO flip-flops, crocs or sandals.

• On cold days we would recommend gloves and hats. These do not want to be too bulky as the hat will need to go on under the helmet and the gloves do not want to restrict the use of your fingers.

• On wet weather days waterproofs are advisable as is spare footwear to travel home in.

• If you would like to bring your own harness or helmet to use on our site you may do so but only after they have been assessed as safe by an Oaker Wood instructor.

• There are mosquitoes on site during the summer so insect repellent is advised if you are prone to being bitten.

• We can provide tea, coffee and squash free of charge. There is no shop on site so if you require anything else you will need to bring it with you.

Thanks for a great morning shooting !

Victoria Read - 30th Birthday - Nov 17

We had youngsters and teens as well as adults in our group so chose the family paint ball . We were concerned it would be too tame for the grown ups but we need not have worried ! It was the most fun we had had in a long time - lots of different scenarios to " fight" in including holding a bridge and trying to capture a flag from an old fort. The staff are friendly and safety conscious, the whole set up is really professional and we all talked about it for weeks afterwards ( even after the bruises had faded) .A great way to spend a few hours with good friends.

Philippa - Family Paintball - Sept 17

We had one camp village with pods to ourselves which made it easier to allow the pupils to be under our supervision during free time which was good! The staff are very friendly and very approachable and most importantly child friendly. Hopefully this will be the first of more visits planned by our secondary school. Cheers Oaker Wood

Holte School - Oct 17

First time of taking out school pupils to Oaker Wood. The pupils stay in camping pods which I thought were quite accommodating and warm with heaters that automatically switch on if the temperature goes below 18 degrees. The site itself is very impressive with an array of activities to suit all ages and abilities spread over the site.

Holte School - Oct 17

Had a great day paintballing, I had a group of 11 who all enjoyed themselves. Each game was brilliant and the marshals were great fun. Would definitely come again!

Cathy - Oct 17

Went on a stag do with some mates, really great value for money and well looked after by Mikey, Dawn and especially Brookesy. Top marks all round, quad trekking was especially good

Stag Weekend - Oct 17

Our family of 4 visited on Thursday whilst staying in the area for half term. Had an excellent experience with friendly instructors. Lots of time on the bikes with fun and challenging ride around the woods. First time for all of us, boys loved it (14 & 17), we loved it. Will definitely be doing this again. Highly recommend it.
